Photography
A Level Photography will introduce you to a
variety of experiences exploring a range of photographic media, techniques and
processes. You will be made aware of both traditional and new technologies. You
will use the work of artists and designers to give your work direction and must
be able to develop creative ideas. You must be able to present a personal
response which demonstrates your visual understanding and realises your
intentions.

AS
Units Unit
1 - Portfolio In
this unit you will work from a given starting point or theme to produce one
or more considered conclusions. The work will involve the exploration of
photography, development of ideas, visual evaluation and the production a
personal response. Unit
2 – Externally Set Assignment You
will select a starting point from a range of 5 themes set by AQA this will be
issued to you on 1st February. You will have a 5 hour supervised period during
your preparation period, to produce a piece of developmental work There
is no final exam. You
will put up an exhibition of all work produced during Year 12. |
A2 Units Unit 3 – Personal
Investigation In this unit you will
develop a body of work through personal investigations based on an idea,
issue, concept or theme. This will be supported by
a 1000-3000 word report. Unit 4- Externally Set
Assignment You will select a
starting point from a range of 8 themes set by AQA this will be issued to you
on 1st February. You will have a
preparation period followed by a 15 hour controlled test in which you will
produce a final personal response. You will put up an
exhibition of all work produced during Year 13. |

Progression
Photography AS and A2 level are excellent
foundations for degree courses and/or careers in the fields of Fashion and
Textiles, Advertising, Graphics, Film and Media and Photo Journalism.
