What is the course structure?

 

The course is made up of six units – three core units that everyone takes and three specialist units.  The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in more depth.  It is also possible to do a work experience in a Travel and Tourism organisation.

 

What will I study?

 

All students take the three core units:

 

The UK Travel and Tourism Industry

Customer Service in Travel and Tourism

The Traveller’s World

 

You will take three specialist units:

 

UK Tourism Destinations

European Holiday Destinations

Planning a Trip to a Visitor Attraction

 

Assessment

 

Students will produce evidence from tasks, activities and assignments that relate to specified criteria.  All units are assessed and moderated internally.

 

What can I do at the end of the course?

 

A BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate is equivalent to 2 GCSE  A*- C

 

With further training or study, students can go into careers or further education in the Travel and Tourism industry.

 

It prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as:

 

BTEC National Diploma, Certificate or Award in Travel and Tourism

BTEC National Diploma, Certificate or Award in Airline and Airport Operations

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel Operations
